  • Backend Developer

    Job Description As a backend developer, you will work alongside with our other talented and highly collaborative engineers to improve our platform’s various internals and its flexibilities of integrating with our client schools’ existing technologies. You will have the unique chance to work with private systems used internally by universities that only we have external access to from our relationship with the institutions.

    Core Responsibilities

    You will:

    • Work with various systems commonly used at most universities and colleges,pulling/pushing data from/to them
    • Work with various standard formats (e.g. iCalendar, RSS) to import content to our system
    • Create and improve automation tools for content acquisition. Types of content involved include university course catalogs, campus events, university academic calendars, and many others
    • Work with our backend/database engineers to help optimize our own platform to better support the integration with university systems
    • Perform research on the state of IT systems used by universities and colleges,to help with the prioritization of our platform’s integration work

    Qualifications

    Our ideal candidate will:

    • Have solid experience scripting with Python, including accessing and processing SQL queries in Python (raw or through an ORM)
    • Have experience using MySQL or other SQL DBMS
    • Have experience working with different types of APIs
    • Have experience with website crawling (i.e. HTML content extraction)

    Nice to haves:

    • Be familiar with various popular LMS and SIS systems used by NorthAmerican universities and colleges

    Support Engineer

    At OOHLALA Mobile, we work with hundreds of universities and colleges across the world, including some of the most prestigious universities in North America, to help them better engage their students and improve student life experience on campus.

    Job Description As a support engineer, you will work alongside with other highly collaborative and mutually supportive teams in the company, including both our customer success team and our engineering team, to help our customers with matters that require engineering expertise. You will also be working on tools and internal procedures to help support the other teams in the company.

    Core Responsibilities

    You will:

    • Assist customers with technical problems and answer support questions via chat (e.g. Olark) and phone call
    • Perform various internal tests, for web and both of our mobile platforms (iOS and Android), to ensure that our products are working at the highest quality possible

    Qualifications

    Lead iOS Developer

    At OOHLALA Mobile, we work with hundreds of universities and colleges across the world, including some of the most prestigious universities in North America, to help them better engage their students and improve student life experience on campus. Our main student-facing product consists of our mobile applications, with iOS being our flagship platform.

    Job Description As our lead iOS engineer, you will be responsible for all things iOS at OOHLALA, including working on and maintaining the various iOS applications we offer, as well as overseeing and developing new iOS product features. You will work alongside with our other talented teams of engineers and designers to ensuring that our iOS users’ experience is as best as possible.

    Core Responsibilities

    You will:

    • Be responsible for all iOS application development and maintenance at OOHLALA
    • Work with our internal API team and mobile design/UI/UX team to create the best iOS mobile experience for university students
    • Collaborate with other iOS or Android developers on the team to continually improve the mobile experience as a whole for our student users

    Qualifications

    Our ideal candidate will:

    • Have extensive iOS development experience for both iPhone and iPad
    • Have extensive experience with commonly used iOS libraries (e.g. CoreData)
    • Have single-handedly created and published iOS apps on the App Store
    • Have extensive experience working with third party web APIs on iOS
    • Have experience maintaining many different iOS apps/projects using some version control system (e.g. git)

    Nice to haves:

    • Familiar with the current industry design trends; understand the concepts of good UI/UX and data-driven approach to UX optimization
    • Some understanding of the App Store ranking system, as well as keyword optimization for the App Store
    • Experience with automated Xcode build and App Store submission systems

    Front End Web Engineer

    At OOHLALA Mobile, we work with hundreds of universities and colleges across the world, including some of the most prestigious universities in North America, to help them better engage their students and improve student life experience on campus. A big part of the process is to ensure that our platform is as tightly integrated with each institution’s own set of services as possible.

    Job Description As a front end web engineer, you will work alongside other highly collaborative and mutually supportive teams in the company to accelerate our work on the main website, the client control panel/CMS, as well as products yet to be announced. You could also be working on internal web-based tools to help support the other teams in the company.

    Core Responsibilities

    You will:

    • Help build/improve the current OOHLALA Mobile website, including all aspects of a SaaS company site such as product showcase, sales demo, and miscellaneous pages
    • Build new as well as improve existing features for the OOHLALA client control panel/CMS
    • Create internal web-based tools to help optimize the workflow of our engineering and other teams (e.g. customer success team, sales team)
    • Work with other teams to help continually improve our products

    Qualifications

    Our ideal candidate will:

    • Care deeply about web UI/UX, and have a perfectionist mindset about building the best website
    • Have great experience building responsive web pages
    • Have great experience with various JS technologies (e.g. Backbone, Angular)
    • Have experience working with web UI frameworks (e.g. React)
