OOHLALA wins the Queen’s Entrepreneur Competition

We had a great time these past few months taking part in business competitions and getting great feedback from judges and industry experts. While competitions can never take the place of the real startup world (and all its craziness), it does help validate many assumptions about a business model. It’s also a great opportunity to network and gain valuable feedback from individuals who have built successful companies or are in the Venture capital industry. Oh, yeah the friends you make and the prize money helps too!

Lessons we learnt:

  • A strong team is very important.
  • Listen to your users, and then listen some more
  • Heed their advice!
  • Find a niche
  • be nimble
  • Look for a great market or a problem to solve
  • Be passionate and love what you do (we love helping students and young people)
